Patrick’s music career has taken him through a variety of fields working professionally as a jazz pianist/composer, a workshop leader for percussion, voice and jazz performance to performing at the South Bank Centre, the Vortex Jazz Club and Donmar Warehouse amongst other venues in London.
He has been a Composer in Residence at the Baylis Programme of the English National Opera where he created a children’s opera performed by Mary King, Robin Sampson and children from Robert Browning Primary School and written cantatas for children’s voices that were debuted at Portsmouth Guildhall. Many of his choral compositions for children form part of the National Award-winning Songbooks produced by Portsmouth Music Hub.
He was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Teach Portsmouth Awards in 2019.
His early training was with Gerald Gifford, Lionel Sawkins and later with Howard Riley (at what is now Goldsmiths University). In addition to running and leading workshops, Patrick believes taking part as a participant provides insight and enhances his skills and experience as both musician and music educator.
He has an MA in Film Composition from Kingston University.
